What GamStop Covers — and What It Doesn’t

Camelot (or its successor operator) maintains its own exclusion system, and registration with GamStop does not automatically extend to National Lottery accounts. You would need to self-exclude from the National Lottery directly.

Finally, GamStop relies on the accuracy of the information you provide at registration. If you use a different name, address, or email than those associated with your gambling accounts, the matching process may not identify all of your accounts. Deliberate circumvention is possible — the system is not infallible — but doing so defeats the purpose of registering in the first place.

Gordon Moody offers residential treatment programmes for people with severe gambling addictions. The programmes run for 12 to 14 weeks and include therapeutic support, life-skills development, and aftercare. Gordon Moody is one of the few UK organisations offering intensive residential treatment specifically for gambling disorder.

Peer support groups, including Gamblers Anonymous (GA), operate throughout the UK and provide a community-based approach to recovery. GA meetings are free, anonymous, and available in most regions, with an increasing number of online sessions available for those who prefer remote participation.

These resources are not alternatives to GamStop — they complement it. Self-exclusion removes access. Support services address the behaviour, the triggers, and the recovery. Using both in combination provides a more complete response than either one alone.

The Decision to Stop Is Harder Than the Click
